I've always said that the Kingsport Times News editorial board is superior to J. Todd and the Gang on Morrison. This thoughtful piece is well written, and while you may not agree with the conclusion, the reasoning is not for more press access but for public access to these records. I happen to think that publishing the list of concealed carry owners, while techincally legal, borders on criminal negligence. Should the public have the right to examine these records? I'm undecided. Should the media publish the list (including addresses) of permit holders just because they can? No. Personally, I favor Vermont's approach requiring no permit to carry a concealed weapon. That does away with the public's need to know about permit issuance.

Read this editorial. Whatever you view, you can be sure that the KTN actually reasons through it's editorials.
